A reversing valve located in the outdoor unit can change the direction of the refrigerant flow for cooling as well as for defrosting the outdoor coils in winter. The fact that a Heat Pump will move heat rather than create heat, this system can provide excellent space conditioning at as little as one quarter of the cost of operating a conventional style heating or cooling system (Split System/Furnace & AC System).

The most common type of heat pump is the air-source heat pump. This type of Heat Pump transfers heat between your house and the outside air.
